for a very important date. No time to say hello, goodbye, I'm late, I'm late, I'm late, and when I wave I lose the time I save...
I need to practice the disciplines of stillness, of silence, of peace. If I am continually rushing around like a mad woman, I will continue to miss what God has for me in the moment.
A newer pastor asked Dallas Willard, "...what piece of advise could you give me as I (begin)?" and as he got ready to take copious notes, Dallas said one thing:
Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life...
That's it.
Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life.
Speed and Godliness are incompatible.
Speed and peace are incompatible.
Hurry and loving others is incompatible.
Hearing God's voice and hurry is incompatible.
Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life.
Are you feeling it? If you are, you are feeling me, where I'm at... And 'ruthlessly' implies a struggle, a battle, a fight. I probably wouldn't 'ruthlessly bake cookies' but I am attempting to ruthlessly eliminate the chaff in my life, the distractions, the hurdles I put in my own way. Join me in ruthlessly eliminating hurry from your life?
